Eddie Blue (named by my mother after the lead singer of Live, Ed Kowalczyk) was approx. 13 years old and died today... Ed lost about 3 lbs in the last several weeks and couldn't eat or swallow because of a mass the size of a walnut under his tongue. The vet found he had a large tumor and was 99% sure that it was squamous cell cancer. Apparently, that's a very common place for cats to get tumors. Dad took him in this morning to be put under general anesthetic so the vet could take a look at it. While he was already under, the vet confirmed his suspicions and the decision was made to euthanize Ed. We all feel like it was the right thing to do under the circumstances, but it doesn't make it any easier... Bye Ed, you sure were the cutest cat in town.
